(Playa del Rey, CA) A pregnant woman biking with her family was fatally struck by a vehicle in a collision on Pershing Drive on Saturday evening, January 31. The incident happened around 6 p.m. according to officials, at the intersection of Pershing Drive and Manchester Avenue. Regan Cole-Graham, a 36-year-old woman, was riding with her husband and their two children when a vehicle hit her. According to police, the driver complied with the law by remaining at the scene. Cole-Graham, who was seven months pregnant with her third child—a girl—at the time of the crash. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital, where physicians delivered the infant. According to a GoFundMe page set up for the family, the infant died later in the neonatal intensive care unit at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital despite medical interventions. Officials indicated that drugs or alcohol were not suspected in the crash. Investigators withheld specifics on the vehicle’s speed, traffic lights, or the bicyclist’s precise location in the road. That information stayed unknown as the investigation went on. In the days after the crash, a makeshift memorial sprang up near the intersection where the collision took place.
