(Sherman Oaks, CA) A hit-and-run crash on Woodman Avenue late Tuesday night, January 27, claimed the lives of an 80-year-old man and his dog. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded around 11:35 p.m. to the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue and Moorpark Street. Police arrived to discover an elderly pedestrian who had been hit by a car while walking his dog. Authorities reported that a Maserati heading north on Woodman Avenue struck the man and his dog. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department gave the man emergency medical treatment and took him to a hospital. Even after reaching the hospital, doctors declared him dead. The dog was killed on the spot. Investigators noted that the driver failed to stop and provide assistance before speeding away in an unidentified direction.
