Overview of the Louisiana Street Crash. When a pedestrian sustains serious injuries on a bustling city street, investigators examine traffic safety regulations to identify potential contributing factors, avoiding premature blame. These reviews examine driver awareness, pedestrian behavior, and roadway conditions. Since the pedestrian was reportedly outside a crosswalk, investigators may review the Pedestrian Right-of-Way Law. This law mandates that pedestrians crossing outside of marked or unmarked crosswalks must yield the right-of-way to vehicles close enough to present an immediate hazard.
