(El Cajon, CA) A 21-year-old man died early Saturday morning on January 43183 after a vehicle struck him while he was walking on the freeway in an Interstate 8 crash. CHP officers reported the incident happened around 1:20 a.m. On westbound I-8 near Mollison Avenue. Investigators stated that the pedestrian stepped into the roadway from the Mollison Avenue area. They entered the path of a westbound 2021 Toyota Venza driven by a 49-year-old man. According to CHP, the pedestrian was in the travel lanes amid low-light conditions when the vehicle hit him. Medical staff declared the man deceased at the location. Officials identified the victim as a 21-year-old male from Kaibeto, Arizona. The public was not given his name. The Toyota driver sustained no injuries. Investigators noted that the events preceding the crash are still being examined.
