(Los Angeles, CA) Police report that a 66-year-old man has died from severe injuries he sustained earlier this month in a collision on 43183th Place. The Los Angeles Police Department stated the incident happened around 6:55 p.m. On January 12, at the corner of 45th Place and Western Avenue. Officers subsequently discovered that the man had been hit while crossing in an unmarked crosswalk. Investigators reported that a silver Honda Odyssey van, heading northbound on Western Avenue, struck the pedestrian. Following the collision, the van proceeded through the area and was last observed traveling east on 42nd Place from Western Avenue. Police stated that the driver failed to stop and provide assistance. Paramedics took the injured man to a hospital, where he stayed under medical care for several days. On Tuesday, the LAPD announced that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. Officials have not disclosed his identity yet. Detectives noted that Los Angeles maintains an ongoing reward of up to $50,000 for tips resulting in a conviction in deadly hit-and-run incidents.
