(La Crescenta, CA) The California Highway Patrol is seeking public assistance after a passenger died in a hit-and-run that followed a collision on the westbound Foothill Freeway. CHP reported the initial crash occurred around 1:20 a.m. On December 20 on the Foothill (210) Freeway west of Lowell Avenue. Investigators found that a Nissan Pathfinder was driving on the freeway. At that moment, a vehicle collided with the Nissan, making it lose control. Consequently, it flipped over and collided with a guardrail on the right shoulder. During the rollover, a front-seat passenger was thrown from the SUV and ended up on the roadway. Prior to the officers’ arrival, another vehicle hit the ejected passenger and kept driving without stopping. Officials declared the passenger deceased at the scene. Officials have not disclosed the victim’s identity. CHP reported that the vehicle which hit the ejected passenger fled the scene without providing assistance.
