(San Marcos, CA) A 23-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash on Montiel Road involving a sedan on the evening of Tuesday, January 13. Deputies responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. to the 2300 block of Montiel Road, San Marcos. They got reports of a crash involving a white Nissan Altima and a Kawasaki ZX-10R motorcycle. Upon arrival, deputies and paramedics discovered the motorcyclist unresponsive in the westbound lane of the road. First responders administered life-saving efforts on-site, but the rider was declared dead at 5:52 p.m. The name of the victim has not been released yet, as the family has not been notified. Authorities also withheld the age and identity of the sedan’s driver. Investigators noted that the Nissan driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with deputies. The Sheriff’s Office said it was not yet clear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Sections of Montiel Road were affected while deputies processed the scene and collected evidence.
