(Poway, CA) A fatal accident on Scripps Poway Parkway claimed one life late Saturday night, February 14. California Highway Patrol officers were notified of the crash around 11:32 p.m., according to reports. On SR-67, close to Rio Maria Road. Eyewitnesses reported to police that an SUV and a sedan crashed into each other on the road. According to CHP, the driver of one vehicle possibly fled the crash scene on foot. Emergency responders arrived and declared one person dead on site. Authorities did not immediately disclose the victim’s name, age, or hometown. The CHP’s online log showed that at least one other individual was taken to a hospital by ambulance, although the severity of their injuries was not specified. The roadway stayed closed into Sunday morning as officers gathered evidence and crews removed debris. Investigators failed to specify which vehicle the deceased was in or the cause of the crash. Information regarding speed, lane position, and traffic controls in the area was not disclosed and is still being investigated. CHP stated that they took one individual into custody around 2:45 p.m. on Sunday.
