Oceanside, CA (January 29, 2026) – Emergency radio communications indicate that a 73-year-old man was evaluated for injuries on Tuesday afternoon after a rear-end crash on Vista Way in Oceanside. The incident was reported at approximately 3:22 p.m. On 28 January. The driver, traveling at highway speeds, reported being rear-ended by another vehicle moving at an unknown speed. Even after the collision, the driver managed to pull over safely and get out of his vehicle on his own. Paramedics from Engine 232 checked him over at the scene. He reported lower back pain described as aching, rated 8/10 in severity, with no evidence of head, neck, or neurological injury. He appeared alert, with normal breathing and no indications of being intoxicated. The patient’s blood pressure was high, and he reported a history of hypertension, with a doctor’s appointment scheduled for next week. After being advised of the risks, he refused ambulance transport and signed an AMA (Against Medical Advice) form. He stayed at the scene alongside California Highway Patrol officers and planned to consult his doctor later. The other person involved in the incident was also under evaluation, but no additional details were provided. We’re glad the driver avoided life-threatening injuries and hope he gets the appropriate treatment in the days ahead.
