Oakland, CA (September 16, 2025) – A multi-car accident occurred on westbound I-580 near Highway 13 in Oakland, resulting in at least one person being injured on Monday night. Local fire and medical teams responded quickly to the incident, which was reported around 8:12 p.m. Based on audio recordings from the Oakland Fire Department, the incident included a minimum of three vehicles. The incident took place on a heavily trafficked part of I-580, located just east of the Highway 13 interchange, an area known for its heavy congestion during rush hour. Emergency responders reached the site and reported that one individual sustained injuries. Luckily, the person who was hurt was not stuck in any vehicle, which enabled quicker access and medical assessment. An ambulance was sent to deliver medical assistance, and more fire department staff helped secure the area and evaluate the damage to the vehicles. Traffic was momentarily slowed on westbound I-580 because of the emergency response, but there were no total road closures. Authorities have not disclosed the name or status of the person who was injured, and the reason for the crash is still being examined.
