The CHP location description placed the collision on northbound I-5 just south of Washington Boulevard. The dispatch information did not identify the vehicles involved or provide details about how the collision occurred.
A later update at 3:20 p.m. stated that the Freeway Service Patrol had closed its incident. The update marked a change from the active response status recorded earlier in the afternoon.
