Newman, CA (April 25, 2026) – A man died and a woman suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident on Saturday morning, April 25, on I-5 north of Stuhr Rd near Newman. The incident was reported at around 10:40 a.m. Emergency responders arrived after a northbound 2004 Ford SUV suddenly turned left for reasons unknown. The vehicle flipped over into the center median before stopping upside down on the southbound shoulder. The 44-year-old driver from Van Nuys was declared dead at the scene. Thirty-two-year-old Angela Quiroga, also from Van Nuys, was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries. Traffic was disrupted in both directions while crews managed the scene. Officials verified that both occupants had their seat belts on during the collision. The investigation into the crash’s cause is ongoing, with additional information to be shared once available.
