Newark, CA (March 19, 2026) – A woman from Hayward died after a vehicle struck her Monday night in Newark. The crash happened around 8:11 p.m. On Monday, March 16, close to the Cedar Blvd and Joaquin Murieta Ave. intersection. Emergency responders arrived at the scene following reports of a pedestrian accident involving a woman and a vehicle. Upon arrival, crews discovered the woman and her dog lying in the roadway near the intersection. Emergency responders tried to revive them at the scene, but both were declared dead soon after. The victim was subsequently identified as 34-year-old Rosalia Antonia Mariscal of Hayward. Authorities stated that the driver in the crash stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials have not yet figured out the circumstances surrounding the collision. It is still unclear if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. Officials are ongoing in their investigation into the cause, with additional details to be shared once available. We extend our sympathies to the family and friends of the victim.
