Mountain Pass, CA (January 2, 2026) – Two individuals were hospitalized Wednesday evening after a single-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 15 near Baily Rd, per the California Highway Patrol. The incident was reported around 6:04 p.m. A northbound vehicle lost control and veered off the freeway. The vehicle plummeted almost 150 feet down an embankment, triggering a rapid emergency response. CHP and San Bernardino County Fire Department units reached the site and found the severely damaged car at the bottom of the slope. The two occupants were discovered injured and taken by ambulance to a local hospital. The conditions of those involved have not been made public yet. Officials are continuing to investigate the reason why the driver lost control. Roadway conditions, speed, or mechanical issues are among the factors being investigated.
