(Sacaton, AZ) A motorcyclist died in an Interstate 10 crash near Sacaton early Sunday morning, January 4, causing significant closures on the freeway in both directions. The incident occurred just before 6 a.m. Troopers responded to a three-vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes of I-10 near the Casa Blanca Road exit. According to investigators, the motorcyclist collided with the rear of a stake-bed truck, was ejected onto the freeway, and was then hit by a passing vehicle. Officials declared the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Eastbound I-10 stayed closed for several hours. The shutdown extended about 10 miles from Casa Blanca Road to Pinal Avenue in Casa Grande. Approximately 11 a.m. In the same area, another crash happened on the westbound side, briefly blocking both lanes for around an hour. All lanes in both directions have reopened just before noon.
