(Clovis, CA) A 5-year-old child and their mother suffered injuries Saturday afternoon, January 3, during a collision on Willow Avenue in a grocery store parking lot involving a pickup truck. Clovis Police reported the incident occurred in the Trader Joe’s parking lot near Willow and Nees avenues. Police arrived at the scene and discovered the child alert and conscious. Paramedics took the child and the mother to a hospital to receive medical treatment. Officials described the injuries as life-threatening but anticipate survival. Law enforcement named the driver as 62-year-old Steve Myer of Prather. Investigators reported that officers arrested Myer at the scene on suspicion of DUI. Officers provided no further information on the truck’s entry into the parking lot area. Analysis of the Willow Avenue Collision. When parking lot accidents happen, investigators examine traffic safety and DUI laws to identify contributing factors.
