Menifee, CA (April 5, 2026) – A 54-year-old man was killed in a collision between a Toyota Prius and a Southern California Edison utility truck on Menifee Road. The crash happened around 8:00 p.m. On Friday, April 3, just north of McLaughlin Road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where the Prius driver was discovered with critical injuries and declared dead on site. Initial reports show the utility truck was turning left from a substation driveway as the Prius traveled northbound. The Prius crashed into the truck and then hit a wooden electrical pole that was mounted on the truck. Authorities stated that neither driver is suspected of impairment. Investigators are still examining the reason for the crash. Officials are still probing the crash, with additional information to be shared as it emerges. Our sympathies extend to the family of the victim. How Intersections and Substation Driveways Heighten Crash Risks. Accidents at substation driveways or other industrial entrances frequently happen when vehicles turn across live traffic lanes. Limited visibility, large vehicles, and atypical turning trajectories can hinder drivers’ ability to gauge distances and timing. Utility trucks may also transport heavy or oversized equipment, which can heighten the impact’s severity.
