(Lemon Grove, CA) On the evening of October 5, at approximately 9:30 PM. The accident on Camino De Las Palmas, close to Troy Street, resulted in the death of 35-year-old Marco Quintero. Deputies and paramedics arrived promptly, ensuring the area was safe and investigating the reason for the accident. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that Quintero was cycling east on Camino De Las Palmas when he was hit by a black Chevrolet Silverado near the 8500 block of Troy Street. Paramedics got on the scene shortly and transported him to Scripps Mercy Hospital in Hillcrest, where he was later declared dead by doctors. William Price stated that neither excessive speed nor alcohol consumption seemed to play a role in the accident. The driver of the Silverado remained at the location and was fully cooperative. Law enforcement officials briefly shut down the location to investigate the wreckage, assess street lighting, and gather witness accounts regarding the Camino De Las Palmas accident. Bicycle accidents at night frequently lead to discussions regarding visibility, the rules of right-of-way, and the design of roadways.
