Lucerne Valley, CA (March 1, 2026) – A revised report has verified the identity of a man who died in a fiery collision between two big rigs on Highway 247 between Lucerne Valley and Barstow. The crash was initially reported around 1 a.m. On Friday, February 27, along Highway 247 near Fern Road. Initial reports indicate that the two semi-trucks collided on the highway in the early morning hours. Following the crash, at least one truck overturned and burst into flames. Cement from one of the vehicles spilled onto the roadway, creating a dangerous situation on the highway. Several motorists pulled over to help those involved before emergency services arrived. One individual was declared dead on site. Authorities subsequently identified the victim as 36-year-old Omar G. Beltran from Las Vegas. An additional individual from the crash was transported to a hospital for care, but the severity of their injuries remains undisclosed. Both directions of Hwy 247 were closed for hours as crews managed the site and removed debris from the road. Further information on the circumstances of the crash has not yet been disclosed.
