Los Angeles, CA (May 9, 2026) – A bleach tanker truck overturned early Saturday morning after crashing on the Interstate 105 freeway in South Los Angeles. The accident happened at approximately 3:42 a.m. On the westbound lanes just east of Vermont Avenue, a tanker truck collided with another vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol. The semi-truck then overturned and caught fire. Officials said liquid from the tanker was leaking onto the road after the crash. A SigAlert was issued at 4:14 a.m. , which shut down all westbound lanes as crews worked to contain the spill and clear the area. Los Angeles Fire Department hazmat teams were called in to help with cleanup. Emergency crews assessed at least one individual at the scene. The person refused to be taken to the hospital. The crash was categorized as one involving injuries, though complete details have not yet been made public. Officials are still working to determine the cause, and additional information will be shared as it becomes available. Our thoughts are with those impacted as they recover.
Why Hazmat Truck Crashes Require Major Road Closures.
