Los Angeles, CA (April 27, 2026) – An e-bike rider died Saturday night, April 25, following a hit-and-run crash in Los Angeles. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. In the Jefferson Park neighborhood, close to the intersection of 36th Street and 5th Avenue. According to reports, an unidentified vehicle struck the e-bike rider near the intersection. The rider, approximately 48 years old, was thrown off upon impact. They came down on a stationary vehicle and were declared dead on the spot. The rear of the stationary sedan sustained damage. The driver fled the scene of the collision, with no arrests reported as of the first update. The incident is still being investigated, and further information could emerge as officials proceed with their examination. We extend our sympathies to the family and friends of the victim amid this trying period. Risks of E-Bike Crashes in City Environments. Riders of electric bikes enjoy less protection compared to occupants of cars or trucks. Collisions with larger vehicles can result in serious injuries, particularly if the rider is ejected from the motorcycle. Urban intersections heighten the danger as traffic can approach from multiple directions. Drivers could be turning, parking, passing through, or navigating around slower road users.
