Los Alamos, CA (March 21, 2026) – A 37-year-old man from Hueytown, Alabama, was fatally struck on Highway 101 near Alisos Canyon in Los Alamos early in the morning. The incident happened around 2:00 a.m. On March 21, a Saturday. California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the northbound freeway lanes. Upon arriving, they found the pedestrian, who was declared dead at the scene. Officials are withholding the victim’s name until his family is notified. Initial reports suggest the man was on the road when he was hit, though the circumstances preceding the crash are still being probed. Officials are ongoing in their probe of the incident’s cause, with further information to follow as it emerges. We offer our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased. Why Freeway Pedestrian Accidents Are Particularly Hazardous. Pedestrians on highways are at great risk because of fast-moving vehicles and few safety barriers. Cars moving at highway speeds can inflict deadly injuries even in short crashes. Such incidents frequently happen when a pedestrian enters or approaches lanes not meant for walking, due to distraction, sudden stops, or crossing efforts.
