Long Beach, CA (September 18, 2025) – An afternoon traffic accident involving a large box truck took place on Wednesday in Long Beach, leading to one confirmed death and multiple serious injuries. The accident was reported around 12:11 PM. On September 17, at the crossroads of East 7th Street and Channel Drive, close to the Long Beach VA Medical Center, the Long Beach Police Department dispatch reported an incident. A large commercial box truck was said to have crashed into another vehicle, although the exact circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear. Emergency medical staff and firefighters from Long Beach quickly reached the location and commenced urgent medical care. At the site, one individual was confirmed dead, while at least one other suffered significant injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. Officials promptly closed both eastbound and westbound lanes of E 7th Street, from Channel Dr to Margo Ave, to aid in rescue efforts and debris removal. Tow trucks were subsequently sent to remove the box truck, which necessitated specialized equipment because of its dimensions—said to be around 10 feet in width and between 30 to 35 feet long. The coroner arrived at the location, and several agencies continue to participate in the ongoing investigation. Currently, there are no additional details available about the victim’s identity or the number of vehicles that were part of the incident. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the person who has passed away.
