Lodi, CA (May 7, 2026) – A woman sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near the intersection of Church and Elm streets in Lodi. The collision was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. on May 6. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, where the injured woman was located and subsequently transported to a hospital for medical care. The driver remained at the scene and worked with authorities. Authorities said that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have played a role in the crash. The incident is still under investigation by police. Our thoughts are with those who were hurt as they get medical treatment. How Are Pedestrian Crashes Typically Handled in California? In California, when a vehicle hits a pedestrian, the typical response starts with evaluating the scene and the victim’s medical condition. Emergency teams focus on providing medical attention first, and the driver is usually requested to stay at the scene to give a statement. Officers document the crash to determine what happened, regardless of whether impairment is a factor. California prioritizes pedestrian safety, and intersections are among the most frequent sites of these incidents. Elements such as vehicle speed, crosswalk visibility, and traffic signals are commonly examined during the follow-up process.
