Lindsay, CA (December 18, 2025) – A fatal crash involving a semi-truck and a sedan on Monday night in Lindsay left one person dead and two injured, the California Highway Patrol reported. The incident took place just before 8:30 p.m. On December 8 at the Highway 137 and Road 196 intersection. Officials stated that a semi-truck carrying corrosive material, traveling east on Hwy 137, collided with a white sedan heading south on Road 196. The impact of the crash sent the big rig veering off the road, where it struck a tree and overturned. The truck’s tank ruptured, leaking corrosive materials and triggering a hazardous materials (HAZMAT) incident that required authorities to shut down Hwy 137 between Highways 65 and 99 for cleanup and public safety. One person in the sedan was killed at the scene. Their identity has not yet been released until family is notified. The semi-truck driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. A young passenger in the sedan was also hurt and transported for treatment; their condition was not known right away. CHP investigators are still probing the factors behind the crash. We send our thoughts to the families of those impacted and our deepest sympathies to the victim’s loved ones.
