Laton, CA (March 19, 2026) – Two individuals were killed and one injured in a three-vehicle collision late Wednesday night near Laton in Kings County. The crash happened around 11 p.m. On March 18, along 12½ Avenue south of Douglas Avenue. Emergency responders were sent to the site following reports of a major multi-vehicle collision involving a sedan and two other cars. Initial details show a man in a 2022 Dodge Charger driving northbound in the southbound lane of 12 ½ Ave at high speed. Meanwhile, a man operating a 2017 GMC Sierra was traveling northbound in the correct lane, as a woman driving a 2012 Mitsubishi Galant headed southbound toward the Dodge. According to investigators, the Dodge driver spotted the oncoming Mitsubishi and veered right, entering the GMC’s path. The Dodge’s right side hit the GMC’s left side, and then the Dodge also struck the Mitsubishi’s left side. The impact’s force propelled both the Dodge and the GMC into a nearby dirt field. The GMC flipped over in the crash, throwing the driver and two passengers from the vehicle. The driver and one passenger died from crash-related injuries. A second passenger from the GMC was transported to Community Regional Medical Center suffering moderate injuries. The drivers of the Dodge and Mitsubishi received treatment at the scene.
