Van Nuys, CA (May 25, 2026) – A traffic collision resulting in injuries occurred late Sunday night, May 24, near the intersection of Hazeltine Avenue and Vanowen Street in Van Nuys. The crash was reported at approximately 11:09 p.m. Initial reports classified the incident as a hit-and-run crash involving injuries. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation as authorities gather more information. We hope all those hurt receive the care and support they need while recovering. Why Late-Night Hit-and-Run Accidents Can Be Difficult to Review. Hit-and-run crashes that occur late at night are often more difficult to investigate, as there tend to be fewer potential witnesses around. Darkness can also make it more difficult to recognize a vehicle, read its license plate, or track where it went after departing. Investigators often use nearby cameras, wreckage, road markings, and eyewitness accounts to reconstruct the incident. Medical personnel typically examine crash victims for head, neck, back, chest, and limb injuries resulting from impact with the roadway. Certain symptoms might not show up immediately, particularly when adrenaline levels are elevated. Traffic speed, illumination levels, lane placement, vehicle damage, and impact location can all help clarify how the collision occurred and why injuries resulted.
