Factors Influencing Bicycle and Vehicle Crashes on Urban Roads. Bicycle-vehicle collisions frequently occur on crowded urban roads where they share the same space. Variations in speed and visibility can hinder drivers and cyclists from reacting swiftly to one another’s actions. Intersections and spots near driveways heighten the danger, particularly when vehicles turn or enter the road. Cyclists can be more difficult to spot, especially with obstructions or heavy traffic. Road layout, lighting, and adherence to traffic rules by drivers and cyclists alike can affect the frequency of such incidents. Mutual awareness from both parties can help lower the chances of collisions in shared traffic zones.
