Lakeside, CA (September 9, 30) – On Monday afternoon, emergency personnel in Lakeside quickly responded to a rapidly spreading brush fire that ignited close to a mobile home park, resulting in injuries to two civilians and causing damage to several buildings. The Coches 2 blaze, which started at approximately 3:00 p.m. Near Los Coches Rd, north of Interstate 8, a fire spread rapidly through a densely vegetated region, leading to immediate evacuation orders for multiple communities. Emergency responders, including paramedics and firefighters, rushed to help those affected by the fire and transported two individuals to nearby hospitals—one with burn injuries and the other suffering from smoke inhalation, as reported by Cal Fire Capt. Michael Cornette. At its highest intensity, more than 200 firefighters fought the blaze, aided by aircraft dropping water and ground teams using hoses to safeguard adjacent houses. Officials reported that six homes were obliterated, and one other building sustained damage. Preliminary evaluations suggest that the number could increase as teams carry on with their assessments. The fire, fueled by the wind, ravaged 5.3 acres before its spread was stopped by 4:30 p.m. As of that moment, it was 5% controlled.
