Isla Vista, CA (January 27, 2026) – Officials are probing a hit-and-run crash that injured a pedestrian early Saturday morning at the Camino Pescadero and Del Playa Drive intersection in Santa Barbara County’s Isla Vista neighborhood. The event took place around 4:05 a.m. It was classified by the California Highway Patrol as a 20001—a felony hit-and-run involving injuries. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and provided treatment to the pedestrian, who was injured in the crash. The condition of the victim has not been made public, and their identity remains unreleased. The driver responsible escaped the scene prior to the arrival of police. Investigators are actively searching for the suspect vehicle and the driver behind the crash. Officials have yet to confirm the recovery of any surveillance video or witness statements at this point. The intersection of Camino Pescadero and Del Playa Drive, situated in a heavily populated neighborhood close to UC Santa Barbara, remained partially shut down during the early morning probe.
