Irvine, CA (October 28, 2025) – A deadly accident that involved three vehicles closed multiple lanes on the northbound side of Interstate 5 near Jeffrey Rd on Monday morning, with one death confirmed, as per the California Highway Patrol. The collision happened just south of the Jeffrey Rd exit and was reported at approximately 8:26 a.m. According to CHP records, a gray Jeep, an Infiniti G35, and a black Mazda crashed violently, scattering wreckage across several lanes. Emergency responders found the driver of a gray sedan unresponsive and trapped inside the car. Firefighters attempted to extract the driver-side door, but the occupant was declared dead at the scene. The airbags had been activated, and it seemed that the individual had endured significant injuries, such as potentially fractured legs. CHP contacted the Orange County Coroner soon after verifying the death. All northbound lanes were briefly closed while emergency personnel secured the scene and evaluated other individuals involved. The specific reason for the crash is still being looked into, and it’s not yet known if there were any more injuries. Traffic was greatly affected in both directions around the Jeffrey Rd area during the morning rush hour.
