Huntington Beach, CA (April 28, 2026) – A vehicle struck and killed a 70-year-old bicyclist on Pacific Coast Highway near Newland Street in Huntington Beach. The incident happened just before noon on Sunday, April 27. Emergency services responded to reports of a cyclist who had fallen in the road north of Newland Street. Police officers found the cyclist unconscious in the road, where paramedics tried to revive them. He was subsequently declared dead at the scene. Investigators stated that the cyclist was heading southbound on Pacific Coast Highway and started merging into traffic for an eastbound turn onto Newland Street. At that moment, he crashed into a Subaru Impreza that was also heading southbound on the highway. The Subaru’s driver, a 20-year-old resident of Huntington Beach, sustained no injuries. Officials stated that he worked with investigators, and impairment does not seem to be involved. The names of both individuals have not been disclosed. The case is being managed by the Huntington Beach Police Department’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team. Officials are still probing the cause of the crash, with further details to be shared as they emerge.
