A hit-and-run collision was reported at about 3:40 p.m. Oct. 9, 2026, on eastbound Interstate 10 west of the Whitewater rest area in California. The California Highway Patrol classified the incident as a hit-and-run with no reported injuries.
The location was documented within the Beaumont CHP area, near the Whitewater rest area. Dispatch information identified the incident as involving two vehicles, although no makes, models or other descriptions were provided.
A later CHP update stated that both vehicles continued eastbound on Interstate 10 from the Whitewater area. They were last seen about 20 minutes before the update was logged.
The available dispatch information did not indicate that either vehicle stopped at the scene or provide additional details about the circumstances of the collision. No injuries were reported in the CHP incident classification.
