Santa Fe Springs, CA (May 24, 2026) – Authorities responded to a hit-and-run crash involving injuries early Sunday morning on May 24 at the intersection of Carmenita Road and Florence Avenue in Santa Fe Springs. Dispatch records indicate the call was received at approximately 6:39 a.m. After a white Mercedes SUV was said to be blocking lanes near the northbound side of Carmenita Road, emergency crews quickly arrived and temporarily closed the left-turn lane and the No. 1 northbound lane while they cleared debris from the road. A tow truck later removed one of the vehicles from the intersection. Traffic lanes reopened later that morning once cleanup was finished. The initial report did not disclose the severity of the injuries. As of Sunday evening, those involved in the crash had not been publicly named. Investigators continue to work to establish what caused the hit-and-run and who may have fled the scene afterward. We hope those involved in the road collision make a swift recovery. Why Hit-and-Run Incidents Frequently Lead to Lane Closures. Lane closures often occur temporarily following hit-and-run incidents, particularly at high-traffic intersections.
