San Bruno, CA (May 27, 2026) – A hit-and-run collision with injuries occurred Tuesday afternoon on northbound U.S. Highway 101 near the San Bruno Avenue exit in San Bruno. The accident was recorded just before 2 p.m. According to dispatch records, the incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run with no injuries, but the classification was later updated to reflect that injuries had occurred. Emergency responders were sent to the overpass above US-101 near San Bruno Avenue. Information on the number of vehicles involved and the severity of any injuries was not immediately available. As of Wednesday morning, details about the suspect vehicle had still not been released. Investigators are working to piece together the circumstances of the hit-and-run crash. Our thoughts are with those impacted, and we hope for their full recovery. Why Hit-and-Run Crashes Can Complicate Investigations. Hit-and-run accidents typically demand that investigators collect evidence rapidly, since one of the drivers flees the scene before law enforcement shows up. Footage from surveillance cameras, pieces of vehicle wreckage, statements from witnesses, and road markings can all prove crucial in helping to identify the driver who fled the scene. Highway ramps and overpasses can make investigations more difficult, as vehicles can quickly leave the scene. Injury accidents near freeway exits can also cause traffic congestion while emergency crews treat victims and document the road.
