Goleta, CA (February 17, 2026) – The Santa Barbara County Fire Department reports that four individuals, including two children, sustained injuries Monday afternoon when a pickup truck collided with a support pillar of a Highway 101 overpass at the Patterson Avenue southbound offramp. The single-vehicle accident was reported on Monday, February 16, shortly after 2:00 p.m. Authorities reported that the pickup truck hit a support pillar on the southbound Highway 101 offramp at Patterson Avenue. The truck contained two adults and two minors during the crash. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported all four occupants to the emergency room at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital via American Medical Response ambulances. The California Highway Patrol reported that the female driver had major injuries, while the male passenger sustained moderate injuries. Out of the two minors in the vehicle, the male juvenile suffered moderate injuries, while the female juvenile was in critical condition. Investigators stated that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the crash, although claims of reckless driving are under review. The southbound Highway 101 offramp at Patterson Avenue was shut down as CHP officers carried out their investigation and crews removed debris from the site. The vehicle was allegedly towed as evidence.
