Galt, CA (May 9, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle occurred Friday morning, May 8, on northbound State Route 99 near the Simmerhorn exit. Emergency teams were sent out at approximately 8:34 a.m. Following reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and other vehicles, California Highway Patrol logs indicate the incident included a motorcycle, a Toyota, and a truck towing a boat trailer. The crash shut down the northbound lanes just past the Simmerhorn exit as emergency crews worked the scene. Authorities said the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Further reports state that the rider was transported to a hospital for medical care. Information on other people involved and their conditions was not released right away. Traffic restrictions were implemented while crews worked at the scene, and multiple vehicles—including a trailer unit—required towing. Lanes were progressively reopened once emergency responders had finished cleanup operations. Officials are still investigating the cause of the collision, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available. Our thoughts go out to those who were injured and are now receiving medical treatment.
What Makes Multi-Vehicle Highway Crashes Involving Motorcycles More Severe? Motorcycle accidents on highways tend to cause more severe injuries, as riders lack the substantial protection provided by enclosed vehicles.
