Fresno County, CA (April 30, 2026) – Two men were hospitalized after a head-on collision at the Manning Avenue and Temperance Avenue intersection, between Fowler and Selma. Emergency responders arrived around 3 p.m. On Wednesday, April 29, responders arrived at the scene of a head-on collision between a Hyundai Accent and a Ford Ranger. Authorities stated that the Hyundai was heading westbound when it veered into oncoming traffic. The Ford’s driver, a 73-year-old man, tried to dodge the crash by swerving back into the westbound lane. However, the Hyundai driver swerved back as well, resulting in a direct collision between the two vehicles. Both drivers were transported to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Authorities stated that the Hyundai driver, a 60-year-old male, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and will be formally charged following his release from medical care. The Ford vehicle flipped over during the incident, with both cars suffering severe damage. Officials are still probing the crash’s cause, and additional information will be shared when available. Our thoughts go out to the injured as they recover. How DUI and Lane Departure Can Cause Head-On Crashes. Head-on collisions frequently happen when a vehicle veers into the path of oncoming traffic. Impairment may compromise judgment, reaction time, and steering ability, heightening the chance of veering out of the lane. Sudden evasive actions like swerving by drivers can make things worse if both vehicles respond erratically. This can lead to a direct collision if neither driver holds a steady course. Road design and traffic conditions also contribute.
