Fresno County, CA (April 30, 2026) – Two men were hospitalized after a head-on collision at the Manning Avenue and Temperance Avenue intersection, between Fowler and Selma. Emergency responders arrived around 3 p.m. On Wednesday, April 29, responders arrived at the scene of a head-on collision between a Hyundai Accent and a Ford Ranger. According to authorities, the Hyundai was heading westbound when it veered into oncoming traffic. The Ford’s driver, a 73-year-old man, tried to dodge the crash by swerving back into the westbound lane. However, the Hyundai driver swerved back as well, resulting in a direct collision between the two vehicles. Both drivers were transported to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Officials reported that the Hyundai driver, a 60-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and is expected to be booked following his release from medical care. The Ford vehicle rolled over in the collision, with both cars suffering extensive damage. Investigators are still examining the crash’s cause, and additional information will be shared as it emerges. Head-on collisions frequently happen when a vehicle veers into the lane of oncoming traffic. Impairment can compromise judgment, reaction time, and steering control, heightening the risk of lane departure. Sudden evasive actions like swerving by drivers can exacerbate the situation if both vehicles respond unpredictably. This can lead to a direct collision if neither driver holds a steady course. Road design and traffic conditions also factor in.
