What Usually Happens When an Officer Is Injured in a California Highway Crash? When a law enforcement officer is injured in a traffic accident on a California highway, the response generally includes extra emergency resources beyond those for a typical injury crash. The area can be secured even more thoroughly, with extra personnel frequently brought in for support. This is standard protocol to protect public safety and ensure accurate documentation of the incident. Crashes involving on-duty officers typically undergo an internal review alongside routine traffic investigation processes.
