Fresno, CA (December 19, 2025) – A fatal collision involving two vehicles near Easton killed a 28-year-old woman and a 2-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon at the Jefferson and Walnut Avenues intersection. According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly crash happened at about 12:22 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17. CHP investigators stated that the woman, driving a Honda Civic northbound on Jefferson Avenue, sped through a stop sign and struck an eastbound Chevy Tahoe. The collision was devastating, causing fatal injuries to the driver of the Civic and the toddler passenger. Officials verified that the child was partially thrown from the Honda and had not been secured in a proper car seat. Furthermore, neither the woman nor the toddler was wearing a seatbelt during the crash. Both were declared dead at the scene. Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17 and passengers in the Chevy Tahoe, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. They were taken to a nearby hospital and are anticipated to make a full recovery. According to CHP officials, excessive speed and not stopping at the sign were primary contributing factors. The lack of adequate safety restraints also probably contributed tragically to the incident’s severity. Emergency responders, including CHP officers, firefighters, and paramedics, arrived promptly to secure the intersection, provide aid to the injured, and launch a thorough investigation.
