Fresno, CA (February 28, 2026) – Authorities arrested one individual Friday afternoon, February 27, following a high-speed pursuit that concluded with a crash in east central Fresno. The event started just before 4 p.m. After a speeding driver refused to pull over on Highway 180. According to authorities, the driver of a white Honda Accord was going approximately 120 mph. Officers temporarily lost track of the car before spotting it again heading south on Jackson Avenue. Investigators reported that the driver failed to stop at the Belmont Avenue stop sign and collided with a Toyota Sequoia. The Sequoia driver reported pain but otherwise seemed fine. The Honda driver was pinned inside the car and required rescue by emergency responders. He sustained no injuries and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony evading and causing the crash. Authorities are still investigating the incident. Our thoughts are with those impacted as they recover. How High-Speed Chases Can Lead to Intersection Crashes. Police pursuit-related crashes frequently occur at intersections. Fleeing drivers might disregard traffic lights or stop signs, increasing the chance of crashing into other vehicles. High speeds also cut down reaction time for the pursuing driver and everyone else on the road.
