(Santa Clarita, CA) A husband and wife died, and their teenage daughter suffered critical injuries in a suspected DUI crash on Newhall Ranch Road late Friday night, February 13. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrived on scene around 11:15 p.m. to the crossroads of Newhall Ranch Road and Bouquet Canyon Road. Investigators’ initial probe found that a 17-year-old intoxicated driver collided with the victims’ car. The crash inflicted fatal injuries on both adults inside. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as 54-year-old Genry Ortiz Torres and 49-year-old Sylvia Lux, both from Canyon Country. First responders declared Lux dead at the scene, while Torres succumbed later at a hospital. Their daughter sustained critical injuries, and paramedics rushed her to the hospital for emergency treatment. Officials provided no further information on her condition. Deputies took a 17-year-old boy into custody on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. His identity was not disclosed because he is a minor.
