A 38-year-old woman was tragically passed away on Wednesday morning, November 19, due to a car crash on Mission Gorge Road in the San Carlos area. Multiple vehicles collided with her, as reported by the authorities. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office stated that the accident happened at approximately 4:45 a.m. in the 7500 block of Mission Gorge Road, close to Princess View Drive. Authorities reported that the pedestrian, named Eleanor Anslow from San Diego, was standing in the road for an unspecified reason. Multiple vehicles hit her eventually. Emergency teams arrived at the location, however, they declared Anslow deceased before she could be taken to a medical facility. Officials indicated that it is still uncertain why she was in the road at that time. The investigation is continuing, and authorities have not yet established what caused the accident. Summary of the Mission Gorge Road Crash. In cases of pedestrian fatal accidents, investigators look into various California traffic laws to identify contributing factors. The Pedestrian Roadway Law forbids pedestrians from walking or standing in the road if a sidewalk is present. When there is no sidewalk, pedestrians should stay as close to the road edge as they can while facing traffic. The Duty to Exercise Due Care Law is in effect, which mandates that drivers should be cautious and do everything they can to avoid hitting a pedestrian, no matter who is at fault or where the incident occurs. Additionally, the Basic Speed Law stipulates that drivers must travel at speeds appropriate for the current conditions, such as during low-light situations or early morning.
