In Palm Springs, California, a vehicle traveling south hit 83-year-old Craig Von Bargen while he was in a designated crosswalk. This incident occurred on Palm Canyon Drive close to the intersection with Via Las Palmas on the night of Friday, September 26, at 9:35 p.m. Authorities reached the scene within minutes and secured the crossroads. They diverted traffic to allow paramedics to get to Craig Von Bargen. Paramedics evaluated Von Bargen and declared him deceased at the location. Authorities indicated that he was walking east in the designated crosswalk. Investigators observed that the driver-alert lighting was off. Officers searched the surrounding residences and businesses for witnesses and surveillance footage. Following their inquiry, the police indicated that there seemed to be no involvement of drugs or alcohol. Shortly after, traffic investigators took measurements and collected debris.
