Contra Costa County, CA (February 20, 2026) – The California Highway Patrol reports that authorities are probing an injury-involved hit-and-run collision that took place on February 20 at the San Marco Blvd and State Route 4 intersection. The crash occurred at approximately 12:38 p.m. When a suspect vehicle entered westbound SR-4 from the San Marco Blvd on-ramp. Two vehicles were in the incident, with one fleeing before police arrived. The crash took place on the right-hand shoulder, causing at least one injury, although the severity has not been publicly disclosed. Emergency units reached the scene soon after 12:44 p.m. and started probing the details of the hit-and-run. Officials are still examining the crash’s cause, with additional information to be shared as it emerges. We’re keeping those injured in our thoughts as they get medical treatment. Why On-Ramp Crashes Like This One on SR-4 Pose Risks for Drivers. On-ramps to highways frequently feature merging vehicles, differing speeds, and sudden lane shifts—all factors that can lead to accidents. Side-swipe and rear-end collisions frequently occur when drivers merge onto a congested freeway like SR-4 without yielding or checking blind spots. Fleeing the scene after a crash postpones medical assistance and endangers victims.
