Concord, CA (May 12, 2026) – A hit-and-run collision that left people injured occurred Tuesday afternoon on eastbound State Route 4 near the Willow Pass Road exit in Concord. Emergency crews arrived on scene around 2:45 p.m. on the eastbound side, just west of Willow Pass Road. Early reports stated that at least one injured person needed help at the scene and was later handed over to firefighters for medical treatment. Police immediately began looking for the suspect vehicle after the collision. Later, investigators received reports of the vehicle being spotted near the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue and Deer Valley Road, where it was allegedly involved in a separate incident. Officers utilized traffic cameras and vehicle recognition technology in their efforts to find the vehicle. A motorcycle tow truck was also called to the scene, though further information about the vehicles involved and the severity of any injuries has not been disclosed. Following a hit-and-run accident, investigators typically act fast to locate and identify the escaping vehicle before it can leave the vicinity. Witness accounts, road cameras, and automated license plate readers can assist in determining which way a suspect vehicle went. In certain instances, investigators cross-reference damage reports with traffic camera footage from nearby intersections to reconstruct the vehicle’s path following the collision.
