Concord, CA (May 2, 2026) – A single fatality occurred Friday night in a multi-vehicle collision in Concord caused by a wrong-way driver. The crash took place at about 11:20 p.m. On northbound Interstate 680, just north of Treat Boulevard. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and discovered several vehicles involved. Investigators reported that a black Dodge Charger, traveling the wrong way, collided head-on with a Tesla. Officials noted that several other vehicles crashed while trying to avoid the initial crash. One occupant of the Tesla was declared dead at the scene. The Charger driver was transported to a hospital for medical care. Officials have not verified the severity of those injuries. No further information on other individuals involved has been disclosed. Officials are still examining the reason for the crash, with additional details to be shared once they are obtained.
