(Phoenix, AZ) A motorcyclist aged 43 killed in a seven-vehicle collision on Loop 202 near the 32nd Street on-ramp Tuesday morning, December 9. Troopers named the rider as Christopher Cartheuser from Tempe. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. when an SUV slowed down due to heavy traffic on westbound Loop 202. According to DPS, Cartheuser rear-ended the SUV, was thrown from his motorcycle, and got hit by a utility van. He was trapped under the van until emergency crews freed him. Cartheuser was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A woman from a different vehicle was also taken for medical treatment, but her condition has not been disclosed.
