(Santa Ana, CA) On Friday morning, December 19, a 31-year-old woman died in a Main Street crash after being hit by two vehicles. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. In the 3000 block of South Main Street, immediately south of East Dyer Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered the pedestrian, Cecilia Janeth Sierra of Costa Mesa, unresponsive in the roadway. Orange County Fire Authority personnel declared her dead at the scene. Police report that Sierra was walking eastbound across traffic lanes when a northbound vehicle struck her. While she lay in the road, a second vehicle traveling north struck her and sped away. The initial driver remained at the location and was cooperative. The hit-and-run driver remains at large while SAPD’s Collision Investigation Unit continues its efforts. Main Street Accident analysis. Since the pedestrian was hit twice, once by a fleeing vehicle, investigators will examine the Hit-and-Run Statute.
